remote starter/alarm need help!!
ok sounds good. yea the only dealer here (cold lake alberta) who sells them is canadian tire, and i also work there, im also the only employee who could tell you anything about them lol so no luck finding mor einfo there thats for sure lol. also i believe he was wrong for connecting the plug into the data port on the main module as the plu gfrom the data bypass that fits in it only has a power, ground, and ground out when running wire. none of which would need to be inputted into the main prostart alarm module. thats how i think it fried, when i go to wire it im going to wire the ground and power to its own source, and everything else where it needs to go. i see no reason why it would have to connect anything to the main module as it mimics the key signal on its own once you program it. correct me if im wrong but the bypass i think should be its own seperate entity. the alarm/starter turns on the vehicle, then the bypass picks up the signal from the starter saying its running, and emulates the data that the key is in , which would keep the engine running. thats how i understand it anyway.
so yea got a module today , and it powers up, guess he somehow fried the last one. ill be doing all the wiring this time!! im not color blind! lol anyways. im at work tonight so prolly wont be working on it once i get home. but you never know. ill keep you posted. let me know if my opinion on how the bypass works sounds about right.

As I understand it, that is how the bypass modules work. It mimics the key being in the ignition because the key has an electronic value that must match the engine management system in the truck, otherwise it will not run. It's a security feature.
That's why I have never heard of your alarm. You are in Canada and I am on the opposite end of the world in warm sunny Florida. I understand remote starts are really popular in Canada because of the cold weather up there. I hear Canadian Tire is a really popular store in Canada for just about anything you might need for a car or truck.
Sounds like you have just about got this thing whooped. Enjoy it. I always loved doing vehicle security systems that would do cool tricks like remote start. Customers loved it too. This one guy one time had this girl in a parking lot somewhere just flipping out because he had his remote control in his pocket and told her if she stood in a certain spot next to his car and clapped her hands, the windows would roll down, and when she did it he hit the button on the remote and they came down, then he said clap your hands again and the car will start and she lost her mind when it did...Easy way to impress the chicks....

ok so. i have everything working except this dang bypass module. i cant find any wiring diagrams anywhere about what all needs to be connected to it. im assuming the dome light inputs and outputs isnt nessisary, as well as trunk, sliding doors etc since i dont have those lol. i did however read somewhere that the pink wire must be connected to the starter input. i dont think i had this connected. i will try that i guess. but as per the instructions the security light doesnt keep flashing after i take out the second key. nor do i get a chime indicating im in programming mode. im kinda lost for what i should try next, ill hook up the pink wire from the bypass to the starter output. see if that changes anything. any pointers would be great. btw the bypass module is a ch-dt1000.

OK so I found a wiring diagram for a ProStart CT 5000 and no offense dude but that is one wacky way to program an alarm. Hold down the hood pin and then you have 20 seconds to choose programming? And you have to watch what the parking lights are doing to program it? Sounds like a total PITA to me. 99% of the time the installer never even connects a hood pin. I saw the little button on the module that is supposed to enter programming but that means you can't mount the unit first then program it. The DEI systems I am familiar with are programmed with the valet button or even better can be programmed with a laptop or a pc before you even install it. Anyway that's enough product bashing. I can't find an online diagram for your bypass module but you should need to follow the instructions for the power inputs and outputs on the ignition/accessory/power side of it. It sounds like your pink/white needs to be connected to the starter wire so the module will send 12volts to the starter after the module sees the correct value on the vehicle security key side. The wires for the dome light and trunk release and all that probably need not be connected to anything. In this case you should only worry about the main inputs and ignition/starter outputs.
These are my thoughts based on not having a diagram for the interface. Sorry but I am just not familiar with the programming on your system. Do they not have a tech line you can call to get any help?

yea the hood pin is for the alarm thats built into it. as for the programmer i had everything hooked up to it like you said and it still didnt program, what i ened up doing was putting everything back together and using it as an alarm/keyless entry, the main reason i bought it was because my factory keyless entry stopped working...
