Here are two more trucks to consider:

Truck # 3: http://www.stevesautosales.us/index....id=114&Itemid=
List is 6k...so assume 5k...or 5500 out the door? But miles are pretty high.

Truck # 4: http://www.stevesautosales.us/index....id=114&Itemid=

List is 8k... I offered 6,000 to low-ball and they said they would take 6,500 plus tax/title/license, so probably 7,000 out the door (maybe 6500-6800 if they will come down more). If this truck was like a 2002 I would be all over it... the fact that it is a 2000 makes me think the price should be a little lower than it is.

What about those? They both look MINT...

Should I offer 5,200 out the door on the truck # 3? I think truck #4 is just out of our price range unless they can really come down more.

Thanks for the input but the value on these trucks is far more than 1,000 for a dakota 2000-2004... Even a 2000 with 4x4 4.7 with 100k miles is valued at about 4k-5k.

This is the second round of dakotas I have looked at so I am definitely on the look out. I am not going to make these my only options either... but they are the best of whats available around right now. Granted this changes every week.

Not that i havnt confused you all enough... but lets say hello to CONTESTANT NUMBER 5!! lol...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___2002-Dodge-Dakota-AWD_W0QQitemZ270299287235QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20Trucks QQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=i tem270299287235&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65 %3A7|39%3A1|240%3A1318

***If the link dosnt work it is item number 270299287235 ****

I actually really like the look of this truck. Super low-mileage and pretty good price (assuming his reserve is 6,000). Only downfalls are:
Trailer brakes so it was towing...
slight bed damage (dosnt say from what? But I asked in an email)
It is AWD...can anyone explain this to me? I Know AWD is full time 4x4...but does that mean you can NOT turn it off? I see a selectable switch like the 4x4's have..so I am confused about the "AWD" term???

This truck looks really good... Price is decent..low mileage..looks clean.. As long as I can run it in 2wd I might put a bid on it.... Should I bid 6k?

I actually saw this truck a couple weeks back and it was the same setup (6,750 buy it now) it was bid to 5,000 and reserve was not met. At the time I was still considering so I ran a carfax on it, and it is clean.

Thanks guys!

both truck 3 and 4 are the same links, and the ebay link doesnt come up, just brings up the main page. the white 02 dakota looks clean. when you go look at it, climb under there and look for leaks and shoddy work. i see that guy ha s a single rear exit exhaust? and the price with the milage is pretty balanced considering the KBB on mine is about $5K, pretty much just because it's a v6 and it isnt loaded with factory options.

I fixed the links. The ebay link (truck 5) shows up for me..so I added the item number in case it dosnt show up.

I always crawl under the trucks to see the under body..tells a lot!

the white truck looks REALLY clean but I think I do see a couple of dents on the passenger side (door and front quarter).

dents and dings are given for a medium mileage vehicle. gotta remember now, 100K today isnt high mileage anymore. and as for the silver 02 on ebay, if you can go look at it in person, id go for that one since it's at 65K miles. pretty low for an old truck.

Any idea on the "awd" can it be dis-engaged? (as in..switched to 2wd?) I see a switch/**** in the cab (like the 4x4 switch) but the again typically "AWD" means all the time so im confused!

nah, it's AWD all the time. which id prefer with the drivetrains on these trucks. since a regular 4x4 that has 2wd in these dakotas, the only thing that's not engaged is the transfer case, otherwise the front axle is still spinning, still spinning the front driveshaft.

correct me if i'm wrong but i thought the only trucks that came with the awd were the quad cabs with the 5.9's so you'd get **** for mpg. i didn't check out the link but thats what it sounds like to me.

edit:guess i was wrong but i thought thats what it was, anyways like said before awd is all wheel drive all the time so you'll never be able to be in just 2wd

Everyone on the other forum is sayign there is still a 2hi mode, AWD is a mode on the T-case like 4x4 hi so you can take it out of AWD mode (there is just no true 4x4 mode).

If it truly is AWD ALL the time I dont want that...MPG would probably be 2-3 MPG lower than a 4x4 truck running in 2wd.
