98 dakota 4x4 axle sliped out........
So I have a 98 dakota 4x4 v8 and i went to get in my truck and applied brake pressure to put the truck into "D". The peddle went to the floor!!!! So i got out and check all the 4 corners of brakes, Well will looking at the pass side rear axle i noticed a lot of oil on the inside of the tire. So im thinking ok axle seals. Get in the car put in drive Not Moving just revving. Anyways i tried in 4x4 and it moves(Its a fwd truck now ahah). Well to get to the part, the right tire is pushed out side of the wheel wheel 4 inches more on the right. Did my axle slip out because it was broken or is the a clip that could have broken. The drum is completely out of the brake assembly explaining why the pedal hit the floor. Any suggestions?? thanks
probably a clip, put a jack under your axle, jack it up, and see if you cant just...pull it out.
if you can, and you pull a broken axle out, then you have a broken axle
hope i helped..
