2000 4.7L transmission pan gasket?

2000 4.7L transmission pan gasket?
I dropped the pan off my transmission, it has what looks like a teflon type gasket on the pan, absolutly no residue on the transmission istelf. Do I try and scrape the pan and put on a new gasket or is what;s on there a permenant type gasket? Help please!
