Help with ABS
Hello All,
Driving to work this morning I'm looking at my speed and I see the "ABS" light come on. I really didn't need this today but ... it's there. Okay, I think this has just rear ABS. 98 Dakota. Speed sensor is in the rear somewhere. I guess this know as single channel. I don't know where the module is? Don't know what to look for first? So, if you could possibly lead me in the direction I should take I would be grateful! Thanks all for any advice!

so are you looking at doing it yourself or just seeing if you can "jiggle the wire a bit" or what are you asking for exactly? also give us a little more information on your truck

It's a 98 dodge dakota 3.9L and yes I do all of my own work. So far my plan is to replace the speed sensor and do a reboot by disconnecting the battery. I use my notebook for the OBD2 stuff but this is a different computer used for this and would like to know if it can be hacked for information. My vette computers are all addressable from within the car this, I'm not familiar with. Do I need the DRB unit from the dealer for codes? Thanks!
In case anyone needs this information. The speed sensor was open. The new one which is nothing more then an inductive prox switch changes it's value from somewhere around 1800 Ohms to 1600 Ohms when you pass metal in front of it. Also a hard reset of the computer that controls the ABS can be achieved by disconnecting the battery and holding the start position on the ignition for one minute. I assume this drains any residual energy from the computer.
