Default 3.9 to 5.2 Swap

I currently have a 98 Clubcab 2wd 3.9 a/t, i blew the transmission and happen to have a 96 2wd 1500 with the 5.2, Im looking to swap the 5.2 and trans outta the ram into the dakota and was wondering what exactly i would have to do about the wiring harness. i have heard i could splice two more injectors into my v6 harness and simply put in a v8 cpu but im a bit skeptical on that based on the simplicity. i have a feeling ill have to use the v8 harness and cpu and splice it into my v6 harness where it goes into the cab. i just need to be sent in the right direction before i start this project i am familiar with engine swaps only its been carbed the whole time i am an electrician with the ability to read the schematics and make it work if it comes to it sorry abolut the post just trying to be as clear as possible thanks

if you have the harness, and the cpu, just swap them both. but you are correct about splicing two injector wires, that method does work.

Some of the connectors may be different, I had to wire in a few things on my swap. Also, oil pan may be different also, but not sure about the 5.2, it is different on the 5.9.

now as far as swapping the harness am i just swapping the part of the harness that controls the engine or the entire harness from cpu to where ever it may go, and if the second method is how what do i do about the wiring that goes into the cab?

you're gonna need the entire cpu i belive, but being out of a ram it may not work properly...

try with just the engine managment unit, you'll most likely have to do some wiring like varsis said, but i would not do the extra injectors trick, too easy for something to fail that way,

psss ram engine will work fine, it's the exact same thing, tranny is a 44re or 44he which is the same in the dakota. Either way it should work. But the ram if it's 4wd, you will have to keep the tcase.
