Default Coolant Leak

Hey guys, I have a coolant leak at the front of the engine right behind the idler pulley (or bottom pulley on the front of the motor). The serp-belt appears good and tight although it looks like it's trying to pop off when running. I can actually see it not staying on. Makes a nasty noise as well. HELP !!! Water pump going out ? It was a little low on water. It's clearly leaking fluid. I can't really tell if anything is loose. All appears tight. Something is wrong for sure...

What course of action should I take ? What does it seem like is going wrong or about to ?

Thanks for any replies !

right below that idler pulley is the water pump. tug on the fan, up and down, see if it moves. either its leaking from the shaft, or the gasket gave. my bet is the pump is starting to go. give ya a heads up. how many miles btw? next time you come with a question, make your signature your vehicle list ( year, engine, trans, 2wd/4wd?, etc).

Oh yeah 98\V6 2WD Auto Trans. Miles=178K so it's due for a water pump among other things I bet...It's not running hot or anything. Dunno I will check the fan.

Thanks !

Fan is nice and tight. No movement in any direction.

all you can do is look, get a mirror to help out. could always do some preventive maintenance and replace the pump anyway. check the thermostat housing. the rad hose goes there and thats somewhat directly above the idler pulley, could be leaking and coolant is spilling behind the pulley.
