Default 1997 3.9l efi convert to carburator

Is it possible to covert from fuel injected to carburator? Does any of the older carburated manifolds fit on the 97's? Finally if possible where can I get a conversion kit?

no and no. different heads, with the computer system youd never get it to work right. thats a terrible idea to begin with, the carbeurated 3.9's had 100 horsepower, smpi have 175.

+1 on the not going to carb. If it was originally a carb i might keep it that way but the EFI just helps so much and you dont have to adjust all the time. IT is a PAIN IN THE A@@

I don't remember too well but when my dad had a 84 F-150 when I was kid i remember him always adjusting and having a hard time with the carb. He was just telling me the other day how much of a pain it was.

carb = a bitch if you need to drive in different elevations lots of changing the mixture lol. While efi does it with o2's

I might disagree with what being said here. In the old days, yes some carburetors were a pain-especially the quadrajet 4 barrel carbs (I rebuilt many) But, my last carburerated vehicle, I found the PERFECT carb. Its the Chrome Eldebrock carb that summit sells. It is just as smooth as fuel injection, and worked equally as well.
My truck I have now I have had nothing but problems with. After replacing all the sensors myself and even fixing the Plenum and doing a tune up, it still ran bad. Took it to a repair shop that changed a sensor I already replaced, and did another tune up on it. They even cleaned the fuel system and ran an engine diagnostics test. It runs even worse now! It dies almost everytime I come to a stop. Somehow they screwed up the MAP sensor, so Im getting codes on it now. I didnt before. It runs way too rich when idling. No vacum leaks. They dont know whats wrong with it either. I am seriously thinking of trashing the computer, sensors, EFI and going back to the carb setup!! At least if it goes bad, there isnt a fortune in sensors to replace!!!!!
