dakota common issues
in the past 100,000 miles, rear axle bearings and seals, u-joints, 2 sets of ball joints, 2 sets of tie rods, front hub bearings, rear wheel cylinders, 5 water pumps, transmission seals, transfer case seals, needs a new starter (has a dead spot), window regulator, tune-ups every 30,000, transmission flush filter and band adjustment every 20,000.
the truck is a '99 with a 318 and 4x4, it has 160,000 miles on it, and I play hard with it EVERY day.

any good mechanic will tell you that proper lubrication is the basis of any successful relationship (between a man and his automobile, that is)
My 2001 4.7 4wd so far has had:
Upperball joints
4wd controller chip (original smoked itself)
heater/ac fan motor
steering column to steering unit cv joint assembly
power steering lines (originals rusted)
transmission lines (orignals rusted)
crankshaft postion sensor (lots of fun)
throttle position sensor
rear leafspring shackles (originals rusted and snapped)
and of course
muffler/tailpipe
few sets of tune up parts over the years
several sets of tires and brakes
new pair of front rotors
set of shocks will need a new set soon

All this over the course of 20k miles.
Front shocks
Rear shocks need to be done
Ball joints
Poly control arm bushings
Exhaust
CTM - not really a Dodge problem, the previous owner had alarm wired in and it was done incorrectly.
Brake caliburs
Rear brakes, drums and shoes.
Rear sway bar links.
Front drive shaft
Half shaft
Tires
PS pump
I think I'm missing somethings, but I can't think of anything else now.

2000 Dakota quad cad 4.7
Lower steering colum shaft that connects to the steering box. typical on Daks
Broken exhaust manifold stud on leftside. all 4.7 do it eventually
High beam/turn signal switch - headlights would go out
Front wheel bearings
AC pump clutches
Truck has 111,000 miles I ownwed it since new and I really like it. I would like to find another one rustfree from the south.
