Ipod or mp3 control
Hey all,
I have a 2000 Dakota QC. I have the infinity speaker system. i want to keep the stock stereo as i like the factory look so i dont stress about theft. however, for some reason CDs i burn now dont seem to work. They take a long time to load the CD before playing. And if you skip to a track it also take a long time. It sounds like the laser is looking for the track. Maybe it is because I use silver discs now when years back I used blue discs.
Anyhoo I got thinking is there a way to do an ipod control like you can get for the newer Dakotas? That would be better than burning discs anyway. Ideally i would not want to go through FM. I have an XM radio hooked up that way and it sounds aweful.
Thanks in advance!

I was wondering this same thing a little while back. Depending on what year your truck is (I guess the system changed a little from 01 to 02), they make an adaptor that goes into your head unit. From there an aux. cord will plug from the adaptor to your ipod/mp3 player. Give me a few minutes and Ill try to find the link to the web site.
Heres the adaptor (says 98-01 so you should be fine being a 2000)

And the aux cord to connect the adaptor to the ipod.

Hope this helps and is what you are looking for.

Further research shows that I need a head unit that can control a CD changer.
I have the Infinity speaker system. But the head unit I have is RBR. I cannot find any reference to it on the web. I am 99% certain that it does not have CD Changer control.
I have looked at several websites that sell OEM radios but I can not find anything that says is compatible with the 2000 Dodge Dakota. Anyone know of a head unit with the CD Changer control that I can use to replace my head unit? I am thinking I will replace my infinity speakers / amp with aftermarket components as I blew one of my speakers.
