Default Looking for the best shock for a reasonable price

I have a 1997 dodge dakota 4x4 sport with the v6 and need new shocks on both ends. I haul wood all the time and would like to get the shocks that increase the rear weight capacity in the rear and normal ones in the front. I also am off-road for deer hunting and on back roads so i need something decent. I'm on a tight budget so i just need to know where to buy and what to buy. preferable staying around $200 if that's possible. Another thing i thought of was adding an extra leaf spring in the rear and getting normal shocks...but im afraid that will make the ride to bumpy? What would you guys do?

thanks

cody

my dad has monroe reflex in his truck (used for daily driving, hauling firewood(he heats the house with it), and camputing) and they work well, not too expensive, and they work well, i have them on my truck too and no problems with them, ride and handle 100000000 times better than the old ones did

whatever you do get the same shocks all around stiffer shocks in the back will make it ride like ****...when i first got my truck it had new stockers in the front and ranchos in the back and it rode horrible...if you want more capacity in the rear get either stiffer springs or they make things that bolt on and are supposed to work, had them on my jeep but never could really tell if it worked or not

I agree with playmaker, Id get the same all way round and add a leaf. What can our axles handle in the way of additional weight? I mean you can make 1 ton leafs fit but you still couldnt haul a ton. Not trying to tread jack (Ill need shocks too) but it kinda relates

I have the RC9000 series on my truck and I like them. RC told me that these are made at the Gabriel factory on the same productions lines that the Rancho's are made on. Look at the specs and you will see pretty much the same shock for 1/2 the price.

i loved the rough country shocks i had on my jeep i think they were the 8000's or something but they are still holdin up after like 3 years and they rode really nice a little stiffer than stock but great on and off road, thats what i plan on doin when mine go on the truck
