Default 1999 Dakota Check Gages (gauges) Light and temperature gauge

The "check gages" light (yes, for some reason Dodge spelled gauges wrong) comes on briefly and the temperature gauge goes all the way to the right also briefly before returning to a normal position as the check gages light goes off. Any help is appreciated. I've read posts for similar issues with the oil gauge, but obviously the temp gauge is different.

This does seem to happen during extended acceleration times like maybe going up big hills or merging onto the freeway. This does lead me to believe it could be an intake issue such as an intake manifold leak or someting like that. I'm stumped. This has happened only over the course of the last week. Fluid levels are fine.

I have experienced the check gauge light coming on when I had a bad battery. Battery would be dead or on charger...

It caused the freakiest problems.
