Default 97 3.9 Surges slightly at each stop....

Hello, I am new to this forum. I just bought a 97 Dakota 2wd with the 3.9. It has high miles but really seems to run strong and smooth. Now to my question.......Each time I come to a stop, as the RPM's drop to about idle (guessing between 650-800) they jump (surge) to about 1000-1100 just before comming to a complete stop. The increase is literaly just for 1/2 a second and it idles perfect the rest of the time, no jumping. Any idea what could cause this???? Thank you guys...

I agree, but it also could be the TCC kicking in too, which is a good thing also. but its more than likely just downshifting tho.
