Default 1998 Dodge Dakota 2wd Grinding noise

I have a front end grinding noise while stopping. I have checked both front and rear brakes and they are OK. The grinding noise occurs only during braking at the very end of the stop. The rotors and rear drums are fine. The truck has 124K. Could this be a bearing problem?

sounds like it, you feel a nice vibration in the floor boards?

you said you looked at the rotors and the drums, but just to eliminate the obvious, you didnt say if you checked the front pads and rear shoes.... when a pad is gone, it becomes metal on metal and you will hear a grinding noise. also does it pull to one side when your on the brakes? but it could also very well be the bearings

Default reply to both responses above

1. I do feel the vibration in the floorboards. It has become less noticeable yesterday and today.
2. The pads are good on both front and back.

Like said above, the wheel bearings/brake pads are the most likely culprit, but to add one more possibility to the list, theres always the chance that theres a problem with your torque converter lock up solenoid not disengaging like it should (assuming you have an automatic)... I've seen this happen before and it does exactly what you describe when it goes bad, but it's probably the least likely situation.
