Default Where is the Body PCM?

I have a 2000 Dakota 4x4 3.9
I need one from a 1999 Dakota 4x4 5.2

Where is the body PCM located on these trucks? About how big is it?

Thanks

What is a body PCM? A PCM is a Powertrain Control Module, and has nothing what so ever to do with the vehicle's body.

I sure hate to sound like I'm insulting you, but seriously... If you can't find the PCM, how do you expect to do an engine swap?

Of course I know where the engine pcm is. Their is also one somewhere in the cab as well. i am getting a no bus from this computer. its called a body control module (BCM, or BPCM). since my truck is a 2000 it has a different arrangement than my setup im using out of a 99. So, what I need to do is rip my dash apart and swap the harness and BCM for those out of a 99 dakota. I beleive milage maybe stored on this cpu as well, but i could be wrong.

Sorry, I've never heard of a Body Control Module (I just figured when you said PCM you meant the PCM), and I did realize you had already done the swap.

Well obviously since I don't own a 2nd gen, I wouldn't know where the BCM would be located, but is your truck telling you what your getting no bus from? Busses require 2 computing devices. I would assume its not connecting to your new PCM?

correct, it seems the year 2000 is "That Truck" where they had to change it how they had been doing it. My buddy works for dodge and he prestented my problem to some of the vets, and they say that the BCM for a 2000 dak has one more wire than does 99 previous, or 01 on up. that is enough for it to cause a no bus, and the only way to remedy this is to get ALL the wiring and the BCM from a 99 Dak to match my PCM.

I wanna go to my pick apart to get it, but i would like a general idea of where it is and what it looks like.

Wish i coulda known that the swap wouldve been this extensive before i went ***** deep into it. i might as well have done a 5.7 swap. :-/ oh well...

Thanks.

LOL, nothing ever goes as planned. I did an auto to manual transmission swap in my truck and my ECM hates it! (I knew it would trip the auto trans check engine codes, but there are a bunch of other little irritating quirks). The problem I'm having is that I have a mopar performance ECM in my truck and they don't make a MP ECM for a manual transmission '95 Dakota. I guess I'll have to live with the little quirks.

Hopefully one of the 2nd gen guys will be able to help you out before you have to look for this needle in a haystack!
