An update: I'll soon be the owner of that 02.

I examined the truck today and it looks and drives great. Everything works. The interior is flawless and the exterior has only a few scratches around the tailgate opening. The only rust is at the pinch point at the bottom of the body panels. My son and I will take the truck to my mechanic next week for a final inspection.

My plans are to have our local Line-X franchisee replace the drop-in liner. I'll remove the rotting stock tonneau and replace it with a Truxedo low-profile. Then maybe the stock steel wheels and covers will be replaced with some Alcoa-style truck wheels.
