Evap leak.

Evap leak.
I have had an evap leak for about a year now. I checked the evap vacuum hoses and only noticed a small bad spot in the end that attaches to the evap vac. pump. I cut that part out and put it back together. The light is still on.
When the light first came on I tried changing the fuel cap but that did not do anything.
My next question is that I noticed that the rubber connector that connects PCV valve to the PCV hose is also cracked. I went to Autozone and they can't get the PCV valve. I am looking to see if this could be possibly linked to my evap leak as the vacuum and evap system seem to be linked according to the underhood decal as well as the service manual? Or am I going to have to drop the fuel tank and check the hoses there. The evap canister hoses seem to be good.
