Default 4wd problems

hi i was wondering my 2003 dodge Dakota had water damage when i bought it and it is currently getting flushed out but there is a problem with the 4wd it dosent want to disengage out into 2wd the lights that are are on the switch don't come one either along with the driving lights and headlights but i was wonder what it could be any help would be apperciated

Make sure all your connectors are attached behind the dash, there's one for the headlight switch, one for the 4WD switch, two for the HVAC controls and one for the airbag switch. If it has truely been water damaged (as under water) you may have electrical gremlins for ever.

as i take it, the interior was flooded.. i wouldnt put it past me the body control module is shot. its in the driver kick panel, about 3/4 an inch from the floor. everything you mentioned is controlled by that thing.
