Exclamation throttle body+mpg

I just cleaned my throttle body on my 01 4.7L the other day. When i looked up on the overhead console that displays avg.mpg it was about 5mpg lower than what it was before i cleaned the TB. I did unplug the battery and reset the console thing. Is the computer just getting used to my driving style?

I have only driven a few miles after cleaning.

1. Yes, it takes quite a few miles for the avg to normalize.
2. I hope you used a cleaner specified for FI vehicles. I was going to do that to my Dak the other day, so I bought a can of carb cleaner. It clearly stated not to use on FI cars. Luckily, I read the label before I started.

I did it in my 3.9 w/ brake cleaner lol. Worked good, just blew out some good white smoke for a minute. Dunno if it was good for it, a guy was coming to look at it to buy and it wouldn't idle for me, so I cleaned it out quick and thats all I had laying around lol.

It's just air and not the fuel in the TB...... I've always used a good carb cleaner, FI cleaner, or brake cleaner all in aerosol can form.

Now I like the brake cleaner because of no deposits.....IMHO..... But any of them should work.

After the full reset of the PCM you need about 12 starts and 48 miles. I've seen it take 300 miles before so burn out a good tank and post your results.
