Talking Dakota wont shift into 3rd if I'm flooring it

Insted of bouncing off of the redline like all other automatics, it will over rev until I let back off of the gas then hit it again. If im driving like a normal person shifting at 2000 RPM everything is fine. I'm assuming it's something to do with the computer. Any ideas? And how expensive are the ideas?

its a 1998 Dodge Dakota SLT 5.2L V8 4x4

Thanks

drop the transmission pan, and adjust the two bands. do a flush at the same time. look for any debris in the transmission pan too. If there was something wrong with your computer, your truck more than likely wouldnt even run.

Its the Governor Pressure Solenoid and Sensor, you will need to replace them, TransGO sells a rebuild kit for them.

Or just have the valve body replaced, or install a Transgo shift kit.

Adjusting the bands, a flush, and computer will not do anything. I had there same problem and the only way i was able to fix it was replacing what i mentioned above.
