Dodge Warranty
I just finished the second rear differential oil change on the Dakota, and yep, there is clip debri in the rear end. I bought the truck as a Certified vehicle with the 6 year 80,000 mile warranty. The first differential change, they rebuilt the whole rear end apparently using the same garbage parts that they built it with. Cost me $100 deductible. No hassle, no problems. I had the truck towed to the garage this time, and waited for them to check it out. He said that it needed rebuilt again. He could not just order my loaner though, and fix it. Appears they have to submit the documentation now, and wait for approval. The best he could do is flush out the rear end of debri, and put new oil in. I get free towing if the rear end totally blows. It could be 4 to 6 weeks to get approval. So now I can't take the truck on any trips. It is a around towner until it is fixed. He gave me the option to pay out of pocket, and get re-imbersed if they get paid by Dodge. I told him if it comes to that, I'll go and have an aftermarket differential put in. If their just using the same junk, why would I want to pay them probably more than I would to have pay someone to put a reliable unit in. Has anyone else experienced anything like this on the Certified vehicle or factory warranty. He did say with Chrysler's financial situation, the dealers are afraid of getting stiffed. The Certified warranty runs until 8-2012, and I only have 59,500 miles.
