Misfire
I have a 99 dakota R/T and about one month ago I noticed a misfire under idle and acceleration. the truck only has 115k on it. I just rebuilt the tranny one month ago and this dakota is quickly turning into a money pit. I have a snap-on scanner and hooked it up and I have no codes or any data showing me to have a misfire, but yet its running rough. Any ideas?
Crankshaft Positioning sensor,
Coil
Wires
Plugs
Cap/Rotor
Pre Cat o2 sensor
I just went through the same problem with mine... coudn't figure it out, i also just had my tranny rebuilt, and have 112k on mine. So same thing pretty much..
I first changed the crankshaft position sensor, that didnt work.
then i changed the wires, plugs, and cap... that didnt work.
then i swapped out my MSD Coil for an OEM one and it fixed everything.. the MSD coil failed partially causing it to not fire correctly, but fire enough to turn over...
i was pissed cuz i spent almost 170$ on **** i didnt need, and i had the oem coil laying in my garage and could have had it fixed in 3 secs and for free...
and if none of that above fixes the problem could be the pre cat o2 sensor that reads a/f mixture.
