Homebrewed Air Intake

Homebrewed Air Intake
ALright all, I decided that, until I decide to splurge and get myself a CAI, I would jsut remove that stock air resonator sitting on the throttle body and make it basically a srtaight flow from the Airbox to the Throttle body. Total cost of less that $50 dollars American. About $50 bucks Canadian.
First I removed the resonator and airbox lid.
Then I took a measurement of the piping and determined that 3" ABS Piping would work. I then went to my local Canadian Tire and picked up a 5' section of 3" ABS Piping, 2 Rubber 3" couplings with clamps, and one 3" street elbow. I first put the rubber coupling ont he throttle body and tightened it down to make sure I could make it airtight. It worked so then I went ahead with the project. I did not need the whole 5' length of ABS piping, on the 4.7L you will only need 10". Just make sure you file down the ends you cut to remove and pieces of plastic that may get into the engine. Once i got the Pipe cemented into the elbow, I took some brake clean and cleaned off all the writing on the pipe to make it all black. I also removed the stock snorkel off of my airbox and removed that rubber flap on the passenger side of the radiator. So here are the finished pictures:
