the 5.9 never came in a dakota in 5 speed but you can get any of the other engines with a 5 speed...you can get the rams with a 5 speed and a 5.9 or bigger engine but dakotas only came in autos with the 5.9

Yup...and there is a reason for it. Awful light truck in the rear for that kind of set up so plan on replacing tires quite often............but isn't that the point!!!

Just need the bellhousing, clutch, and such. With those, either a NV3500, or NV4500 should bolt right up. I believe both combos were used in Ram applications.

well it would be pretty awesome to have them on the rt or with the 5.9 in the non rts they are awd so you wouldn't really ever spin i guess thats usually how they do it tho with things like this in the auto business...if your lookin to swap id say go with a nv4500

The NV4500 is physically bigger than the NV3500, and I know on the 1st gen dakotas they won't fit in the transmission tunnel without a body lift... so thats something to look into on the 2nd gen dakotas.

But other than that, the NV3500, 4500, and 5600 (6 speed) will all bolt up.
