Okay, So I tried a search and couldnt find anything on this for the dakota.
On my SC, It has a spark advance option. i was wondering what this is for, if anyone has done it and what it does.

it advances the timing, equivalent to turning the distributor on an older engine.
and doing so it makes more power. do this on NA engines ONLY, anything with forced induction should not advance timing.
you dont want to advance much if any on a daily driver IMO.

 

As long as it's not pinging, you shouldn't have a problem. Unless you're advancing a ridiculous amount. Even if it does ping, you should be able to fix it with higher octane fuel.

 

just advance the timing to the max and use nothing but octane booster in your tank. no gas. just octane booster.

As far as I know it is jsut the Spark Advance for the 4.7L

 

Degree is a measurement. What does the thing say? I mean is it " Spark advance: yes or no?"...

 

Well it says "spark advance" then something along the lines "are you sure you want to do this". that is as far as I went cuz i didnt know exactly what it would do.

 

Well a big part of tuners is advancing the timing. It does help. The Mopar PCM in my truck made a huge difference (it will ping on demand with 87 octane, so it added a lot of timing), the tradeoff is having to run premium but it gets the same mileage so it's not much more money.
