Whining sound at low speeds

I have a 97 Dakota Sport 4x4 65k and I can hear a whining sound at low speeds. I can only hear it when I take my foot off the pedal. When I hit the gas it goes away. What could this be?

5 speed or auto? mine likes to whine in first in second but its mainly just gear noise...

Its a 5 spd.....but it doesnt sound like its coming from the trans....Its more like a whomp whomp whomp sound.
