Default Help!!! Wheel guros where are you.

hello, My First post on this forum and i need a serious question answerd OR serious brainstorming. So i have a 04 Dodge dakota and just put a 3" body lift on tonight. Along with the body lift i got a set of 15" pro-comp steel rims. 15x10. With a set of Firestone Destionation M/Ts, 33x12.50. Yes i got a bit of rub On the turning fenders which im going to cut out. it's only a bit of plastic anyways... Turns out the Steel Rim is rubbing the caliper on all 4 disc breaks, Why didn't the company in carolina tell me that I was going to have this issue...

So brings me to my next question, CAN I MACHINE MY ROTORS?!?! About 2 inches off So the caliper clears the inside of the rim... It's a horrible rub And i just spend over 1,000 Shipped to me, I dont want to use wheel spacers cuz it will just make my truck look horrible. The rim has already a HUGE Offset so it will just make my truck loook stupid.

So can the rotors be machined down or any other alternatives to fitting my NEW rims/Rubber...??? i'll post pics sometime tomorrow.

Any help will be necessary!!!!! If it helps, its a 2004 dakota Sport 4x4.... Thanks for the help, AJ

no no no dont cut your rotors 2" this will give you practiclly no stopping at all your going to go with bigger wheels because you calipers wont sink down 2" it's all bolted together this will not help you what so ever and if you did every time you need to get new rotors there is more money to get them machined to fit in the long run big big bucks. to fix a simple problem

1. less stopping surface creates a increase in stopping distance
2.high cost of machine work
3.increased break tempature increased failure
4.premature break failure
5.highley unsafe
6.pointless

just buy 16" wheels its not worth the risk and why not raise your tortion bars to level it and clear in the front

im not worried about the tortion bars, just worried about the money i've spent... why hasn't the company that sells rims know these sort of things? there's got to be some sort of alternative to my problem, there has to be. im not looking for someone to tell me to go out and spend more money then i already have, no thanks.. but alternatives, im all ears n eyes

dude. relax. just grind the calipers down a little bit. i have 15'' rims on my 04 with disks all the way around and the rims have a big offset. it will take time a patience, but eventually you will get enough clearance. and you dont need 2'' of space in there. my front calipers are less than 1/4'' away from the rims.

and i know raising your tortion bars wont fix your wheels duh but it will help you clear you bumper and your wheel well liner and not always do they tell you stuff like that and with the diffrences the 04's have it may be just this year that has different calipers

Grinding a small amount off the top of the caliper will not hurt anything. However, Do not grind it down too far. I'm talking 1/8" or so. And it's not off by 2". If it was, you wouldn't be able to get the wheel on. Just grind a little off, test fit the wheel, if it still doesn't fit, grind a little more and so on. Do it a LITTLE at a time. I don't think you really need to take off as much as you think you do, so just be careful.
