Default 97 Dakota with 3.9 ltr 6--Oil pressure gauge

I bought this truck new in 04-07 and I am still having problems with the oil pressure gauge. I have replaced 3 sensors and I am always told that it is the sensors. I have not had a problem with the level of oil although the truck does seems to drink up little by little. Is this usual or I do I just have screwup in my engine? Thanks

get a mechanical tester gauge to verify it has proper oil pressure. its something between 3psi at idle, and between 35 and 80 psi at 3000 rpms.. dont quote me on that.

3.9L curb idle oil pressure is 6 PSI MINIMUM.
at 3,000RPM it's 30-80 PSI.

Like f0x672 said, only good way is to get a mechanical gauge and hook it up, to 100% verify. Sending units can go bad, electrical gauges and wiring can go bad, but direct reading is always a good idea for quick testing.
