Default Aussie Lockers

So a friend of mine just got these Aussie lockers (which I've never heard of) for his Jeep Wrangler. They seem to work great on the trail but he's only had them for a week. Anyway, I'm hoping to put gears in my Dakota soon and would love to put a locker in the rear while I'm at it but I can't afford a Detroit (around 650 bucks) Anyway, I'm rambling... the point is that the Aussie locker is only $300 but before I buy one I'd like to know if anyone knows anything about them first hand or otherwise. Always better to have a few outside opinions...

i'm not sure what rear end you have, but the application guide lists it available for the dak and durango 8.25
http://www.aussielocker.com/make.php.../1b9c/04/.html

it looks similar to a Powertrax and LockRite lunchbox locker.
i've got a powertrax noslip in my ram. its only rated for stock HP and tires up to 33". its a DIY install that simply replaces the spider gears. if you get stuck with this, its not because the tires aren't pulling. i like mine.

i got it here for about $400.

I wouldn't buy a lunch box for a dd. I would only buy one for a trail rig, and selectable for the rear would be better. Save your money, they like to kick in and out of gear and snap you. Might break some axle shafts.

Well I have had a Powertrax No-Slip for about 6yrs or so, on my daily driver. No problems. No broken axle shafts. No kick in/outs or snaps. It just takes patience on turns from a dead stop. Other than that you don't notice it.

Well as much as I'd like to I'm not going to get a selectable locker for the rear just because of the cost. This is by definition a budget build. What I'd really like to do is find some junkyard rears with 3.92's and a limited slip BUT that's a pretty rare find at a decent price. I think the aussie might be a good way to go at least for the $ and the truck will hopefully only be a daily driver for another year or so. Thanks for the input guys, I'll take all the help I can get!
