Default high idle?

I have a 3.9L Dodge ram, the dodge ram guys kicked me out cause my engine aint big enough.

my truck idles to about 1000-1500 rpms when i start it and sporadically will do that when i stop or sometimes it wont do it at all.

I've heard of checking the vacuum hose, havent done that yet.

Can anyone tell me all the possibilties it could be?

thanks

Vacuum hose, as you already said.
You can also try cleaning the idle air controller (IAC). It's mounted on the rear of the throttle body, and is held in place with two screws (torx heads I believe).
Although typically a IAC problem will cause a no-idle condition.

I'm having a similar problem with my 02 4.7L Dak. When I start the engine it will race up and back down and has intermittent wandering idle problems and surges while in drive at stop lights. Can anyone share their fix for this?
