electrical gremlins
Has anyone had this prob? In my wife's 2001 4.7 manual trans. 4x4 the radio has been cutting in and out intermittently (seems to do it more often when you have the heat on!) and the signal lights will SOMETIMES not work at that moment as well! These two problems coincide MOST of the time; but it is particularily perplexing because they don't always. So far 2 mechanics haven't figured it out, but it never seems to do it for them, and they think my wife is crazy!
I would appreciate any input, thanks.

thanks, I have downloaded the service manual. Hopefully I can find something in the wiring diagrams.
This -almost- sounds like a problem with the ignition switch to me. I would suggest to either use the online manual or a Haynes book and check the ignition switch with an ohm meter. I would especially check the switch if your wife usually drives the truck and she has a big heavy bunch of keys, pictures, store discount cards and other stuff on her key ring. It's not good for the ignition switch to have all that extra weight on it when the key is in the switch.
If the ignition is OK, you might want to have the CTM diagnosed at the dealer. The CTM controls nearly every electrical function in the truck. The trick will be to get the problem to be present when they dealer checks the truck though.
Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

Thanks for the input. I don't think she has an abnormally large key ring, that's something I definitely wouldn't thought of! I will check ignition out. Looking through the diagrams I see the CTM is very integral; we haven't had it at a dealer in two years, since I bought my diesel megacab, and the nearest dealer is 400km away! I forsee a road trip soon...
