the lift kit made by doetch suspension systems requires different rims anyway so its kinda a good thing i want bigger tires because stock tires will not work with the kit

 

I'm with the others, i dont understand. Nothing even comes close to the wheels on a lift kit... unless the kit's builder is isn't intelligent enough to know how to design A-arms... Most lift kits use drop brackets to raise the vehicle and use the stock A arms.

 

Yeah I mean, when you lift a truck, you only make more clearence for the wheels, So I don't understand why they wont fit. I mean maybe if 35s won't fit on a 7" wide wheel, which I thought it would.... but I'm no expert at back spacing and rims, so maybe you're right. Just logically thinking, it doesn't make sense to me.

 

Well 35x12.5's need an 8 inch rim and preferably a 9.5 or 10" i think. But the stockers should mount right up..

 

He's perfectly right, stock WHEELS won't fit with that lift without spacers. I think it has something to do with the new ball joints you have to use. It says it right on their site, stock wheels don't fit.

 

I would think you'd want a 9 or 10 inch wide wheel with 12.5 inch wide tires. I've always heard as a general rule that you don't want a tire that is more than 4 inches wider than your rim, and 12.5-4 is greater than 8.

Put in the tire size you mentioned and it suggests a wheel between 8.5" and 11" wide. 12.5-4 is 8.5.

 

8" wheels are fine. Plenty of people use them with 12.50s, they hold a much better bead and IMO look better. A tire with a big sidewall, like a 35 I wouldn't even think twice about using them with 7" wide wheels either, but that's pushing it.

 

Yeah my friends 82 cj7 has 12.5's on 8 in wide cragars and he has never had a problem with them. Looks really good too.
