Wits end with Stalling 97 dakota any help?
Ive been through these boards reading posts, and many other boards as well.
I have a 97 Dakota, 3.9, automatic, 2wheel drive. About 2 months ago it started losing power while driving, bucking, occasional backfire, followed sometimes by stalling. It would happen at random, hot or cold engine. I read numerous posts, and since my check engine light never came on, i couldnt figure it out.
I went down a list i wrote from posts replacing parts and im at the end of my rope with the truck. Currently it will stall when engine is cold in idle, sometimes it starts back up, some times it cranks for a good minute without firing up. Eventually it will start up again. When driving the rpms drop, no noise, just drop in rpms, no pedal response, luckily it usually comes back if i toss it in neutral and hammer the gas.
The check engine light finally came on 3 days ago, autozone runs it, misfire 1,3, 5, bad ignition coil.
Going down a list for referance for anyone who can help, here is what ive replaced.
Map sensor, Idle air sensor, Throttle position sensor, crankshaft position sensor, Fuel pump, dist cap, rotor, wires, plugs are good, and then 2 days ago the ignition coil. All these parts are less than 2 months old. Check engine light is on right now, reading misfire in 1,3,5 still, stalls when cold, with the same, will crank for a while, eventually starts. not to bad while driving, hasnt stalled while driving for a while, but occasionally rpm/power loss, but comes back. Anyone able to gimme an idea what else i can do. Guy at autozone says fuel injectors, after all the money ive spent so far, im not willing to drop that much money without some confirmation.

What exact wires did you use?
What exact plugs did you use?
Have you cleaned the Throttle Body?
I've seen the harness on the fuel pump be dirty and cause a lack of voltage to the pump and occasional no voltage. Also, take the fuel rail off and clean it out. I've seen rust in there before.
