Default Unpowered Cig lighter?

Yes, Fuse #17 is unblown (first place I checked)

My parents bought my truck, cig lighter hing had broke, so the whole thing hung down as a giant piece of broken plastic, and had no power to it (just plugging XM adapter in with power indicator LED). Fuse #17 was good.

Went junkyarding friday, and out of 8 or 10 dakotas i looked through, only 1 had my style lighter. So I pulled it from the dash, unhooked power, paid, and put in my truck.

At least I don't have that big hole in my dash anymore, but it still doesn't have power, fuse #17 is still good. Is there an under-hood fuse or am I looking for a chopped wire in the dash somewhere?

The plug has 3 prongs- (914, 8W-80-29)

The Power Outlet works fine..right now I'm using a splitter to power my XM + phone charger.

I'm on page 772 (8W-41-3), it looks like they're showing power comes from fuse 17 and illumination is from fuse 9, with ground to a common point (675, 8W-15-8)?

So I guess first thing is to check negative to a known ground, and if that checks out, then positive to ???

You mean it doesn't work at all or have you only tried this with the key out of accessory? The cig lighter is on auxiliary and doesn't work unless the key is not in off position.

It doesn't work with the engine running. I know it is a switched power.

that was my second guess. Doesn't make sense to double fuse something though, especially when it's switched. :/
