transmision swap manual to auto limpmode

i have a dakota with a 5.2 we did a transmions swap automatic transmion to a manual 5 speed but the computer is sending it into limp mode it rev just fine in neutral but when u put it in drive and give it more then a quarter throttle it just make a bunch of noise and has no power if u bring it above 2 1/2 grand but if u keep it under 2 grand it runs fine wandering if theres a way to trick the computer

what year truck did you put it in? If you swapped to a manual I don't understand. And what exactly is "limp" mode? It is a manual tranny meaning your computer doesn't control it. And what type of noise is it making?

when you say 'put it in drive' you mean 'put it in gear' right?

did you swap ecm's?

it a 97 and yes i ment to say when u put it in gear
it sounds and feel like its hitting a rev limitor
the local around here say that since the computer is not getting a singal back from the tranny it still thinks it in park was woundering if yall knew how to bypass it

no we didnt swap the ecm cause the dealership told us that the manual ecm wouldnot hook up to the automatic wiring harness cause the prongs are in the wrong spots and dodge has dicontued the engine wiring harness and have not had any luck with any junkyards

I did this same swap on my '95, but being OBDI I didn't have any computer issues.

My solution is this... First off, I assume you had to ground the P/N switch to be able to start the engine? What if you put those wires on a switch on your dash so you can "take it out of park" by flipping the switch? A good way to see if it will work is start the truck, unground the wires and drive it. If that fixes it, put them on a switch and call it done.

you need to get a ecu out of a truck with a 5.2/5 speed combo or it'll continue to do that.
