Gees so many people pissing each other off in here! look what I started.

On tire pressure.. I will check the tires when I get home from work, I don't imagine my brother added bigger or smaller tires, I will fill it up to the max PSI at the gas station tonight (as well as indicated by the tire). I see the logic in overinflating wearing out the center first but wouldn't the max tire pressure be taking that into effect if that's what the factory says? Not being a smart *** here, I don't know

What is this about the soft cover not helping the quad cab? I don't want to get into the science of it, I have seen the mythbusters and read everyone back and forth on it, and I know 1 tank of gas is hardly a control for the experimenting off of, but I do know as soon as I put it on my MPG's went up, so logic would seem it helps out at least a little bit.

I realized I have a GPS in my phone, tonight I will clock my mileage vs what the GPS says to ensure 1 mile on the computer is one mile on the road.

Where do i get 100% gas with no ethanol, I cant think of any place I see without the 10% ethanol sticker on the pump. I typically fill up at Sam's Club, and I stay as far away from racetrack as possible.

My commute is roughly 17.5 50% highway/ City.

I think all gas stations are required to mix in 10% ethanol into their gas now... could be wrong.

i dont know if the mix is required, but i know that around here they are required to have a sticker saying so on the pump if they do and i can find acouple still without that sticker, its where i fill up

I know this is an old discussion but I had a 2000 Dakota with the 4.7 & 3.92 gears. I gained +-5 mpg and added 30hp with the following bolt on's. Flowmaster catback system airaid cold air intake jet stage 2 module 1" throttle body spacer & a Richmond gear limited locker. All together about a grand total. At 70mph throwing 2700rpms I would average 19mpg! Was very spunky to drive and at the track I could pull a mustang GT 4 links out of the hole! Ran a consistant 9.5 on 1/8th mile track! Just saying it worked for me. Loved that truck.

I got a CAI, a glasspack with 2 1/2 duals, Superchips, 3.55 32" tires, 4x4, fresh tuneup and get about 12 to 12.6 around town.... But it hauls for a truck

I've had a tonneau on my 4.7 quad cab for 10 years. If I take it off, I can feel a difference in the handling. It's slight, but definitely there. Does it improve mileage? Not that I can tell. I've been getting 17 mpg regardless of where I'm driving or what I'm hauling. An almost perfect 4 year log with sub-logs for long trips proves that out for me. I love the truck because it handles like a sporty car. Alas, I will probably sell it and get a fuel efficient 4 banger.... and a bigger truck to mount a camper on!

Didnt read this whole thread, but the mythbusters proved that a cargo net improves mpg quite a bit. Better mpg than a tailgate, tonno cover, and the worst thing you can do is drive with the tailgate down.

Default 2003 dodge dakota 2x4 4.7 v8 auto

I have an 03 dodge dakota 4.7 v8 auto but iam getting 7 mpg. any ideals why?iam not going over 2000 rpm on take off i cost as much as i can and i run full synthetic oil.
