Hi I own a 2001 dakota quad cab. Today I pulled my hood release lever to pop my hood and nothing happened. I took apart the lever and the cable is freyed but was still in good enough condition to pull. I pulled hard on the cable with pliers and the hood still did not pop. Any advise?

 

Have someone push down on the hood over the latch area while you pull on cable, this might help by taking some of the pressure off of the latching mechanism.

 

^ What he said. Usually if you push down, pull the lever, and ush down again, it'll pop for you.

Oddly, on my dad's Ram, we actually have to pull up for it to unlatch, so you might try that too. Either way, the latch is under pretension.
