Large Evap leak.

Default Large Evap leak.

So my 2001 Dakota 3.9L, 72k miles

Check engine light came on today, Code p0955 i believe i kinda forgot..

but it stands for large evap leak..

Any idea which one it could be.. I checkd my gas cap it seemed tight. So that easy fix its not..

Any help Would Be Great..

Replace gas cap and then start checking all your vacuum hoses for cracks or leaks. Charcoal canister is a good area to start. (under driver seat along frame)

its probably a crack on one of the vacume hoses, on my dads 3.9 it was the hose near the cap under the PDC (right behind the battery, PITA to get to) you can cut it down in length and put it back on a couple of times, but eventually you need to replace the hoses . . .

had the same thing on my 99 3.9. was the fill tube between the tank and body, had a small rust hole in it. it's a dealer only part for about $200 and a quick do-it-yourself fix. that may not be it on yours, but here in the rust belt, the guy at the dealership said it is kind of common. good luck

I have the same code on my 4.7L but everything seems to work and run fine for now.
