Default 4 wheel drive not engaging

I currently have a 2001 Dodge Dakota and 2 weeks ago the 4 wheel drive work perfect. In the last 2 days the temps fell from 50 degrees to currently 20 degrees. Today we got some snow with slippy roads. I have tried to engage my 4 wheel drive hi and it only flashes and then the 2 wheel drive lights up and stays solid.

I do not have service 4 wheel drive light on the dash on.

I do not hear the linkage being engaged when I flip the switch.

Anyone know what or had an issue? Could it be the cold weather that caused something?

It rained on the drive home other night and then got down to 15 degree that night ice could not cause an issue could it?
