Default Clutch fan

Hellow and thanks for the forum,I have a 2000 dakota Quad cab 4x4.Is the clutch fan supposed to turn stiffly when cold? Upper

Yes it will since this is a viscous fan. It should free up as it runs and gets warmer. These fans are designed to "engage" at lower rpms to aid engine cooling at idle or low speeds and will kind of "coast" as speed increases and air flow through the radiator is more plentiful.

I think this happens more as the bearing gets dryer with time.
