Default Cranshaft Position Sensor

The rubber grommet for Crankshaft Position Sensor on 1997 Dodge Dakota 5.2L fell in. Do I have to get it out or can I just get another? If I have to take it out would I have to remove the transmission to do it. Thanks

Have you tried taking off the dust cover and looking for it with a flash light? Thats where I'd start. I would definately go in after it though!! Don't leave it with all the spinning parts in the bellhousing!

Just two screws. Only cover on there.

Well its not exactly that simple. The starter goes over it as well as the engine to transmission brackets. There are about a dozen bolts that need to be taken out and/or loosened to get the dust cover off.
