Rebuild the Tranny and motor yourself. You probably just need a new set of clutches in the tranny 300 bucks if you do it yourself and it's rebuilt. Same with the motor, depending what is wrong with it. I would get a running block and rebuild it. Viola new truck.

BTW I just rebuilt a 46re, will be putting it in my truck shortly. It wasn't hard at all.

 

I helped a friend of mine rebuild the tranny out of his '82 and it really wasn't as bad as I thought. As long as you take your time and pay attention its definitly do able.

 

I know you want input, but it's really up to you. Do you want to drive your Dakota or your 86 Prelude? I know my answer!!!
