Cummins 5.9L in dakota
hey guys i know i dont post to often but im toying with the idea of dropping a diesel in my dakota. does anyone know if it will fit in the engine bay? im thinking i could use copart.com to find a dodge ram 2500 with the motor as a parts truck and just transfer what i need to make it work. any opinions would be welcome!
yea stuffs gonna need cut up, you will probably need to make room in the front for the intercooler and in the back for the transmission,
you might want to look at boxing the frame to handle the torque,
and make sure the front suspension can handle the weight, that should be pretty simple since you're doing that SAS
getting the whole truck should make it easier, since you could even use all the gauges. swap out all the electronics

the fire wall would need to be cut and pushed back, some one put one in an s-10 but major-major work, why not go with the 4bt 3.9, they have gotten theos 4 bangers over 800hp, and they are exactly the same as the 5.9 just missing 2 cylinders, all the mounts and adapters will be the same
i may just do the 3.9L, i need to do more research and decide if i want to commit to all the extra work involved in moving the firewall back to fit the 5.9L. something in my head is saying go big or go home and its hard to fight it lol
the 3.9 is easier yes, essentially plug n play,
but i've not seen one over 400hp, not in a driver at least.
i'll be doing a 4bta swap in mine after the suspensions done.

Banks power put a 5.9 Cummins in a dodge dakota. Check on youtube for videos. I seen one somewhere that showed how they built it. It might be on there websites. bankspower.com. I ve thought about doin the same thing but it would be kinda hard to push the fire wall back in a reg. cab. Thats truck was called a sidewinder i think.
here the website for the video of how they built it
