Well the "White Devil" finally showed its true colors today literally.. Blue, Orange, and Red and very HOT!

Yes the truck burnt down on the side of the road right in front of me while i was going to work. I noticed my fuel pressure gauge drop from 55psi to 20psi it started to run like **** i was literally at the corner of my work when flames started to pour out the sides and smoke came in the vents and filled the cab i jumped out with what i had on and tried to pop the hood... i opened it and flames came out it slammed shut as i didnt have the springs attached at the time.

5 min later the firefighters showed up and by then the truck was a pile of melted plastic and ash.

Everything from the front to the end of the cab is destroyed even the bed cover as the fire blew out the back window and burnt the end of my bed and the top of my bed cover... the only thing i saw worth keeping was the headers, maybe the throttle body, and the rims.. and some suspension **** on the rear. Everything else is GONE... my SCT tuner was in the truck, my ipod, system, my custom one off seats, pcm, rails, intake, valve covers, everything is toast and melted like chocolate on a hot summer day.

here are the before photos:

here are photos after the fire....

More then likely, as far as what failed? I have no idea, as i used permatex on all the fittings and tested it for double the pressure it would be using and it worked fine.

So are you going to start over with a new one or look for something different? Cause that was a sick truck!

Im looking into a 6.7L

and then working from there, the check i get cut is going back to buying a Dakota R/T, but finding a 00 Single Cab Bright white is going to be impossible so ill have to go with something else.. i want to keep it 98-00, 01-03 i dont like unless the 03 has the stampede package then ill lean to that.

But either way im getting another dak and its going to be bigger and better then this one.

That is a damn shame. My gut got tight just reading the title. Makes me remember why I am so neurotic about checking everything before I consider a job done. Freaky **** just happens sometimes though. What do you think insurance will be shelling out?

Good luck with the next build!

Oh my god man, I'm glad your alright! Something's telling you that truck was ready to retire... I teared up a bit too DuckandDodge, no worries. I'm sure if that was me I'b be ballin' my eyes out like a two year old girl on the side of the road.

Good luck with finding a new truck man. I liked your dak a lot too. I hope the insurance company gives you something for it. She sure was a beauty.
