Question Blinker and Radio Problem,

So my mom yes my mom has always done work for my dodge, she passed away a few weeks ago and go figure my truck needs work done, so im going to try to fallow in her foot steps and work on it myself, here is my problem if any one could help, im not sure if the two problems are connected or just a freak accadent,

First My blinkers, when i turn my blinkers on the green arrow on the dash turns on solid, no blinky, so i got out and looked and the blinker is on but once again no blinky, if i manualy make it blink by turning it off and on it will blink but not on its own, i checked the fuses and replaced them all,

Problem Two, my radio is stock, and when i started my truck it started blinking, no sound would come out because it keeps turning itself off and on, only when i tryed to turn it on did it blink, when it was displaying time its was fine, after running it for a while now its not getting any power to it at all, like i said my blinkers dont blink and my radio wont stop,

if it helps the truck was parked for six months when i was deployed any ideas would help, please, im lost

First, I do not know what I am talking about but . . .
For the blinkers, first I would try to replace the flasher, like 15 bucks
this little box tells the lights to go on and off

Then, the first thing I would do to the radio is to pull it out and check the connections in the back. Maybe something is loose.
Does this happen only when you are moving?
When the engine is off?

Others may know if this is a common problem with Dakotas.

Mighty is right, the blinker problem is probably a bad flasher unit. You didn't say what year the truck is, but for the radio check the IOD fuse if you have one. Usually when the lights on the radio blink like that it means the radio has internal damage and you need to have it repaired or replaced with another OE radio or an aftermarket radio. You can try pulling the radio out and checking the power connections, if you have power on the accessory and constant 12 volt wires and the ground is good but the radio still won't work, the radio definitely has some internal problem.

Hope that helps. Sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. Welcome to the forum, and most of all, Welcome Home, and thanks for serving our country.
