Default 2002 Dak SLT QC build up

The following question was the original purpose for this thread, now I am using it to document my progress on building up this truck to my liking.

Pictures to come tomorrow morning!

So I recently totaled my old jeep and ended up buying a 2002 QC Dak (2wd). It's a little small in my eyes compared to the jeep I had so I've been reading up on some cheap ways to get that little bit of lift and came across shackles. Now I've read online how to install them and what not, but what I haven't been able to figure out is where you buy them. All I can find online are lowering shackles, no lifting ones. Another thing I read is that extended shackles lower a 4wd dak, but lift a 2wd one- can anyone comment and tell me if that is correct? Also can anyone possibly link me to a site in which sells the correct shackles with the 2.5" spring width that I need.

So far the only things done to the truck are:
Cobra 18wx111St CB
50watt PA speaker
4ft. firestik antenna
JVC headunit
Some sort of exhaust system that runs into a Y pipe and the tips are shaped kind of like a pair of eyes "<> <>" - came with the truck. (if anyone can further my knowledge as to this exhaust system I would greatly appreciate it)

Things planning to be done in the next month:
Rear Shackle lift - 2"
Spacers up front - 2"

Thanks in advance, and I hope to become friends with you all and learn a whole lot while posting here.

-Kevin

That is correct. Longer shackles will lower a 4x4 and lift a 2wd, just like blocks will lift a 4x4 and lower a 2wd. The rear axles and leafs are set up opposite between the two.

As for a site, summitracing.com sells some, but there may be a better site out there for them. Just do a google search for them.

Thanks for clarifying that for me.

I found some on summit racing

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BE...6700&view=2047

$70 for the pair, I know that western makes a set for around $35 but I have not been able to find them anywhere so it looks like I will be going with the belltech shackles. Only thing left that I need to find before I order those are the coil spacers for the front. Should I go with a 3" spacer kit (do they even make those or are there just 2" and lower?) or a 2" I am aware that the rear will sit higher than the front like it currently does, so if I were to raise the rear 2" with the shackles and raise the front with the 2" spacers my rake should look pretty similar to stock, correct?

those are the ones. Another options is to do a shackle flip But thats more involved than just what you want to do i think. And yes it should be stock height.

Thanks.

I checked the FAQ's and saw these for the front, in the faq it says use 1 above the coil and 1 below the coil for a total of 2".

would those work fine or would the following work "better"

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EX...uery=Year|2002

Thanks again in advance

For some reason I thought you had a 4wd. DOH. The front the spacers will work. I would probably use the single spacer instead of two. Just me though. And for the rear, the longer shackle will work but, I don't think it will be 2" of lift. That shackle I think will give you about 1 - 1.5" of lift. The shackle would have to be 4" longer than the oem one.
