Default heater hose

Hello me again. . Other day blew a heater hose at 5 AM. Just a small hole so made it to work (and back home and to parts store and back home again) Hole was right at clamp going into dash. Anyway not really very difficult so replaced both while there. They didn't seem bad but stuff happens. Anyway when I got done I stopped at car wash and rinsed off the area near firewall. On way home I noticed a small puddle of antifreeze on passenger side floor mat and I still occasionally get a whiff of antifreeze. I cleaned up and it hasn't returned but I still am getting a faint whiff - no steam. Now I haven't driven very far as we keep getting pounded with snow. My question is when this thing leaked and when I rinsed near the firewall could it have leaked through that foam gasket where connections come through firewall? This heater core was just done in July (aftermarket part - not Dodge) Allthough possible the core went it seems too much a coincidence and I just need to "burn" it off. Sound about right?

Ya most likely it just leaked through the foam. But make sure you don't have a leak in the inside. When you do drive it for a good while check for the leak.

Default heater hose

Think I am OK now. Just for good measure in between snow poundings I double checked the two hose clamps. Used a socket with a little more leverage but didn't overcrank. ( And my fingers weren't frostbitten )They weren't loose but did tighten a little. The hoses are right up against the foam so if it was seeping I might not see it and inside is where it was gonna go. Seems all but gone. Anything but a heater core
