2002 dakota Quad cab slt 5.9L
Do the dakotas come with a (keyfob) remote entry stock on the slts and all i need to do is get it activated, or buy a keyless entry for it? I bought the truck used and don't know if it ever had been hooked up.
have a dealer run your VIN to see if it was equipped, if you really want a OEM keyless.
Aftermarket systems made by DEI(clifford, python etc) are far superior. I'd go that route. Will cost a few hundy.

If it's an SLT it should have come with keyless. One thing you can try is a locksmith, there was a guy on here not long ago that said he got a locksmith to order and program new keyless entry remote for him and it worked. I always understood you had to have the dealer program the new remote with the DRB scan tool. Which can be expensive. I would ask a locksmith about it or ask the Dodge dealer what they charge. If you buy a new Dodge remote check online or Google it, you can buy the same remote a lot cheaper online. Or as Independentfool said, you can go with a Directed system and have a lot more features, and way better reliability for probably 200 to 300 bucks installed. Visit www.directed.com to learn more about it and find a shop in your area. Directed is the best you can buy.
