Default no spark dakota

parked my 99 doakota sport 5.2 V8 last fall working fine. Went to start it the other day no spark. changed the coil no spark. changed the coil wire no spark switched the asd relay with air cond. relay no spark disconnected the neg battery terminal waited for awhile reconnected no spark. I do have power to the coil while turning it over but there is no spark coming out of the coil wire to the distributor, already switched the coil wire. what am I missing? crank position sensor? Would it just stop working while sitting? Where is it? Anything else to check? I don't have a code reader. Help please

I'd replace the cap and rotor. If its been parked that long odds are there is moisture in there. Easy place to start and it only costs about $20

just because you have power at the coil doesn't mean thats not the problem. there is constant power at the coil and the pcm will pulse the ground. i would check cam and crank sensors. also note if the tach works while you crank it. it should only be about two hundred rpms with a good battery. i beleive the tach comes directly off the cam sensor which is the one under the distributer cap.

When it starts does it stumble and run bad. just went thru this with a 03. Turned out to be crank shaft positioning sensor. From what i understand they are a problem in these trucks very sensitive. Your not suppose to touch the end and try not to bang it around when you put it in If you have a autozone or oriellies around i think you can borrow a code reader from them i found a code that said lost camshaft reading. Dodge told me computor cant distinguish between the 2 mine turned out to be crankshaft positioning sensor
