Headers leak??
My factory headers were leaking so I decided to purchase some Flowtech shorty headers for my 2003 Dodge Dakota 4.7L and my mechanic installed it. The leak quite down pretty much when the the new headers got installed. But now im having the same leaking problem again. How could I possibly fix this?? I am burning alot of gas because of this. Reply asap thanks
is it leaking where it meets the head? if so
a - the bolts may be working out
b - the header flange may not be true flat. take a straight edge to it to be sure.
is it leaking at the donut gasket? if so, replace the gasket.

Flowtech's header gasket's kinda suck. The ones I bought didn't last more than a week.
What you need is a set of these bad boys:
http://catalog.remflex.com/
(Ask them if the 4.7 Jeep will fit your Dak)
And you need a set of locking header bolts.
The beauty of the remflex gaskets is their thickness and material. They also guarente(Spell?) them to never leak or they will replace them. Their customer service is wonderful. When you get them, make sure you only torque them to about 25 foot pounds. Thats what they are designed for. They are made out of graphite and they are very popular is the drag scene. They can take up minor differences in the header flange and any imperfections in the mating surfaces. I use remflex gaskets on any aftermarket header I buy.
You could use breakable locktite but I don't recommend this. If you do go the locktite route, make sure it is not the kind that is permanent.
